Veterinary Practice Training & Team Workshops That Actually Make a Difference

Ready to give your team something different?

Tired of the same old CPD sessions where everyone sits quietly, checks their phones, and leaves feeling exactly the same as when they arrived? Yeah, we thought so.

Our veterinary practice workshops are designed for teams who want more than just another PowerPoint presentation. We're talking about interactive, engaging sessions that leave your team feeling genuinely empowered, connected, and equipped with tools they'll actually use.

Whether your practice team is struggling with confidence, communication, or just needs a morale boost, our veterinary team training is designed by vets, for veterinary professionals (and the incredible support teams who make everything possible).

What Makes Our Veterinary Practice CPD Workshops Different?

We get veterinary practice - and we are still in it.

We've been there – the hectic days, the difficult interactions, the perceived pressure to be 'perfect', and that feeling of never quite switching off. Our workshops aren't generic corporate training adapted for veterinary teams. They're created specifically for the unique challenges and opportunities in veterinary medicine.

Interactive experiences, not lectures.

We believe in the power of doing, not just listening. Every workshop includes practical exercises, group discussions, and techniques you can actually implement. Yes, we use slides, but we also use activities that get people thinking, talking, and connecting. Our team also have extensive expertise in event management, so you can guarantee we think of all the small details and your team members' experience.

Flexible to your needs and bespoke to your team.

Whether you've got 5 people or 50, a morning or a full day, specific challenges or just want to invest in your team's development – we'll create something that works for you. We will always chat ahead of time to understand your practice, your team and ask the questions that really matter. We won't give you a generic session on anxiety for veterinary professionals or imposter syndrome, if when we chat we realise there is a different challenge potentially underlying it.

We are trained, but we are real.

All of our team are fully trained, certified and accredited coaches. We also have a whole back catalogue of professional training from Master's degree to Trauma-Informed Leadership, Meditation and Breathwork. However, what's most important to us is that are sessions are relatable and interesting to everyone, not just the fellow personal development nerds who love this stuff already. We will tell stories, we'll make the team laugh and we'll create an experience they don't stop talking about for the right reasons.

We make it actionable and applicable.

We won't just keep banging on about saber tooth tigers and analogies without making it real, relevant and applicable. Between the founders we have spent nearly 30 years in clinical practice - ECC, charity, locum, first opinion, high end bespoke, open surgery - you name it, we've lived it.

CPD that counts.

All our workshops come with official CPD certificates for the whole team, because professional development should be recognised.... but surely everyone should be doing that, right?

We can adapt any topic to suit your team's specific needs, but here are some of our most popular veterinary team training sessions:

Imposter to Authentic

Is "imposter syndrome" mentioned in your team meetings? This session helps everyone understand what the imposter phenomenon actually is (and isn't), plus science-based techniques to navigate it. Perfect for boosting confidence across your entire team.

Building Surgical Confidence

A surgical CPD without a scalpel in sight! We dive into surgical nerves, redefining confidence, understanding your nervous system, and creating an actionable toolkit. While it sounds surgery-focused, the confidence-building techniques work for everyone.

Defining Team Success: What Really Matters To Us?

Transform your practice values from words on a website into actionable, guiding principles your team actually lives by. Great for new teams, practices going through change, or anyone wanting stronger team cohesion.

Your Nervous System & Anxiety in Veterinary Practice: What Nobody Teaches in Neurology

Ever been told to "calm down" and found it completely unhelpful? We'll help your team understand why, plus give them practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, and those overwhelming moments that happen in veterinary practice.

Confidence 101: Empowering YOU

"I'd like more confidence" is one of the top reasons people come to us. This workshop redefines confidence and gives your team a practical toolkit for building it in their daily work.

Sustainable Self-Care

Moving beyond the "bubble bath and face mask" version of self-care to help your team discover what actually helps them recharge and stay connected in demanding work.

Additional Topics We Love:

  • Assertive conversations and communication skills

  • Setting and maintaining boundaries at work

  • Understanding and managing the imposter phenomenon

  • Goal setting and personal development planning

  • Emotional regulation and nervous system awareness

  • Team bonding and connection exercises

  • Finding your strengths and using them effectively

  • Breathwork and practical stress and anxiety management

Want something specific that's not listed? Just ask! We love creating bespoke workshops for unique team needs.

How Our Veterinary Practice Training Works

Flexible Options for Every Veterinary Team

In-Person Workshops
Perfect for deeper connection and more interactive discussions. We can come to your practice or meet at a local venue. Great for team bonding and those conversations that happen naturally when people are in the same room.

Virtual Workshops
Ideal when logistics are challenging or your team is spread across locations. We use interactive polling, breakout rooms, and keep everyone engaged through the screen. Still interactive, just through technology.

Group Sizes
We've worked with teams from 2 to 200 people. Smaller groups allow for more intimate discussions, while larger groups are perfect for introducing new concepts to everyone at once. Our team have worked with groups outside of the veterinary space of up to 800.

Session Length

We recommend a minimum of 3 hours for meaningful impact in person, but we can adapt to your available time. Half-day sessions allow for deeper dives, full-day workshops create lasting transformation.

For virtual events, we can deliver sessions from 1-6 hours.

FAQs

When is a good time to run a non-clinical veterinary CPD workshop?

Ideal times for workshops? Every team is different, but here are some suggestions:

  • New team members joining – help everyone connect and establish shared values

  • After challenging periods – rebuild morale and resilience

  • Practice changes or transitions – support your team through uncertainty

  • Annual team development – regular investment in professional growth

  • When you notice stress or communication issues – address challenges before they escalate

  • Just because your team deserves it – sometimes the best reason is simply investing in brilliant people

How do you handle safety in the workshops?

We take your team's wellbeing seriously, and we realise that everyone attending has their own story, their own experiences and challenges, and there will be varying levels of engagement.

  • We aim to create a psychologically safe environment throughout our workshops

  • Participation in activities is always optional and we never put anyone on the spot or single them out

  • We provide appropriate warnings and context for sensitive topics

  • Professional boundaries are maintained throughout

  • Signposting to additional support and normalising utilising this

  • Confidential follow-up support if needed, with the opportunity to send follow up questions

  • We constantly acknowledge that everyone is different, so individuals can take what they need and leave what they don't. We aren't about shaming someone if something isn't up their street. We have neurodivergent members of our team and will strive to ensure that your neurodivergent team members feel included too.

  • We add caveats and health warnings where appropriate, especially for topics such as breath work

Qualifications matter:

  • Founded by experienced veterinary surgeons

  • Qualified professional coaches with further training in Emotional Wellbeing, Breathwork & Meditation

  • Somatic and trauma-informed coaching qualifications

  • Trusted by major corporate graduate schemes

  • Fully insured for coaching and training delivery

  • Committed to ongoing professional development

Do you only work with veterinary practices?

While the majority of our work is with veterinary teams, we also work with veterinary-related businesses, animal charities, rescue organisations, dog training associations, hydrotherapy organisations and any team that works with animals or animal owners.

I have a skeptical team member, how do you deal with that?

We get it! We always set clear expectations, make participation optional, and focus on practical tools and being relatable rather than anything that might feel too "fluffy" - we also call out from the start we won't make them role play or trust-fall. We find that our style of presenting and our authenticity gets the whole team on side quickly. Most skeptics leave as our biggest fans. At the end of the day though, not everything will be for everyone, and that's ok.

Can you work around our clinical schedule?

Absolutely. We know practice life is unpredictable, so we're flexible with timing and can work around your busiest periods.

What if we can't get the whole team together?

We can run multiple sessions for different groups, or offer a combination of in-person and virtual options to ensure everyone can participate. We have loads of options, talk to us!

Is this just for the qualified vets and nurses?

Not at all! Our workshops work for everyone in veterinary teams – client care team members, support staff, managers, students – everyone benefits from confidence, communication skills, and stress management techniques.

Do you need a fancy venue?

We've run workshops in waiting rooms, prep rooms, break rooms. We can make anywhere work that has enough space for your team. In an ideal world, we'd have a TV or projector with an HDMI cable, but we work in vetmed too, we're flexible and can adapt.

Do you just work in the UK?

We are based in the UK, our founders are in Manchester and Edinburgh. We have spoken across the globe and would happily travel abroad to support you and your team - this would of course incur higher travel expenses. Alternatively, we have delivered training to global teams via Zoom. Reach out, let's chat!

Looking for 1:1 coaching for your veterinary team members?

Whether you want to help a team member build confidence, explore their career progression, or simply invest in their professional development, we absolutely can help. Perhaps you're one of the forward thinking employers that wants to make coaching an option as part of their employee benefits package (kudos to you, the world needs you!). We are trusted by some of the UK's largest veterinary organisations and companies to support their colleagues.

Coaching can be transformational for team members who are struggling with imposter moments or low confidence, considering their next career steps, or just need support to reach their full potential.

It's also a pretty incredible way to show you value someone's growth, and it doesn't have to be purely remedial. We believe if coaching was the norm for vetmed, life could look very different.

Check our blog post: How to Talk to Your Team About Coaching Opportunities

One interesting insight over the years has been that if we've been to run a workshop with your team, often the interest in coaching is increased.

Here's what we'd suggest:

Have them take a look through our 1:1 coaching page first.

Coaching works best when someone genuinely wants it (rather than feels like it's been imposed on them), so let them get excited about the possibility.

If they're interested and you're looking at workplace funding, we're absolutely happy to chat separately about packages and pricing that work for organisational budgets.

Drop us an email at hello@vetempowered.com and we'll set up a conversation.
