You're looking for WellVet? You're in the right place.
WellVet's resources are now living with us here at Vet Empowered. Scroll down for the full story of how we got here - and where to find everything you're looking for, whether that's menopause resources, general wellbeing content, or both.
WellVet resources now live at
Vet Empowered.
Here's the story...
WellVet was founded in 2017 by Liz Barton, Nat Scroggie and Ru Tipney, with Katie Ford joining shortly after. From the very beginning, it was something a little different - a collaborative, community-led space dedicated to the proactive wellbeing of veterinary professionals.

Its first landmark moment was the inaugural WellVet Weekend, hosted at Girton College in Cambridge - a genuinely pioneering event where veterinary team members could try yoga, CrossFit, or simply sit with others in conversation about psychology, mental health, and what it means to look after yourself in this profession.

When the world changed in 2020, WellVet was one of the first veterinary organisations to move online, creating a well-needed space for connection during an incredibly difficult time. WellVet Virtual brought together panel discussions on mental health, leadership, operational care, and general wellbeing - and became quietly catalytic in shifting conversations across the profession. They also ran a Winter Wellbeing series, Spring into Spring, and - largely through the dedicated efforts of Liz Barton - a comprehensive set of menopause resources, drawing on speakers with expertise across a wide range of areas.
What happened next?
As with all the best things, WellVet was always a labour of love - a side project carried by people who cared deeply about it alongside everything else in their lives.
Over the years, each of the founders found themselves growing into their own areas of impact.
-
Liz continued to champion the spirit of WellVet alongside her full-time role, becoming a trustee of Vetlife, collaborating with VetMums to deliver much-needed sessions, and creating thoughtful menopause resources with expert speakers, which you’ll find further down this page.
-
Ru grew VetLed alongside her husband Dan and continues to do amazing work training, coaching, and consulting for veterinary practices that helps boost team collaboration and enhance patient safety.
-
Nat continues to make waves, most recently through important research around neonatal loss, infertility, and pregnancy with VetMINDS Group - work that feels very much in the spirit of what WellVet stood for.
-
Katie went on to co-found Vet Empowered with Claire Grigson in 2020, delivering coaching and personal development programmes trusted by major corporates and graduate schemes, helping veterinary professionals reconnect with themselves. (And hence why the resources live on here!)

Through career changes, having children, bereavements, and all the things life brings, the WellVet team stayed connected - in friendship, and in shared values. But as time went on, there was simply less capacity to keep WellVet active as a standalone project.

Rather than let those resources disappear, we wanted to honour them - and make sure they kept doing what they were always meant to do.

WellVet now lives within Vet Empowered
It felt like a natural home.
Vet Empowered exists to support veterinary professionals to reconnect with themselves - and the values have always been aligned.
The menopause resources in particular connected directly with work we've been developing around the impact of hormones on veterinary careers and workplaces, so bringing them together made real sense.
WellVet's Veterinary Wellbeing Resources
All WellVet resources continue to be available. Some are hosted directly on this site; others - including the menopause resources - live on our online learning platform, where you can access everything in one place. You may need to create a free login to access some of them, but any opt-in is entirely optional and simply makes things easier to navigate.

Resources from the WellVet blog have been woven throughout our own blog, with updates and links to Vet Empowered resources added where helpful, so they remain as useful as possible.
A couple of important bits
Some of these resources were created during the pandemic - the WellVet Virtual sessions in particular carry a little of that time with them.
We've added a gentle content note where relevant, as some of that content reflects a very specific moment.
We still believe there's real value in much of it, though a small number of sessions have been retired where we feel more current resources better serve the topic today.

A note to contributors: everyone who created content for WellVet has been part of conversations about this transition.
If for any reason you would prefer a resource not to be listed here, please do get in touch at hello@vetempowered.com and we'll take care of it.

Remember, additional support is available:

We know that you may have found this page searching for wellbeing resources. A kind note that if this feels overwhelming and you don't know where to start, you don't have to do this alone.
-
Remember that the Vetlife Helpline is a listening service for anyone in the veterinary community. It is available 24/7, and is confidential - you don't have to give your real name
